Welcome to Gilbert`s Cove Lighthouse, also known as "The Greatest Little Lighthouse in Canada".
Gilbert`s Cove Lighthouse was built in 1904 and named after Colonel Thomas Gilbert, leader of the New England Tories. It is one of three remaining lighthouses in Nova Scotia that has the keeper`s house attached to the lighthouse.
Gilbert`s Cove Lighthouse is open daily from mid-June to late September. Inside you will find archival displays, genealogy information, an active quilting room, local crafts and a tearoom.
Outside there are plenty of spots for a picnic, you can walk along the shore at low tide or just take in the beauty of St. Mary`s Bay.
Gilberts Cove is about 20 minutes west of the Town of Digby just off Highway 101.
Gilbert`s Cove Lighthouse is maintained by the Gilbert Cove Historical Society.
