The Big Meadow Bog Trail is an accessible inland 1.5km boardwalk loop. Starting at the Trailhead, visitors cross over a salt water marsh bridge which leads to the inland trail. There are no admission fees, no stairs, several benches to use to enjoy the view, and three viewing platforms. The Trail is sufficiently wide to accommodate two-way pedestrian traffic and is open year-round. The Trailhead has an accessible picnic table and an accessible parking location.
There are information panels with QR codes about: the Bog history; the flora, fauna, and birds found in the Bog; the efforts for conserving and restoring the Bog; and its celebrated inhabitant, the Eastern Mountain Avens, a species-at-risk.
Drive off the Westport ferry and turn left and continue through the Village of Westport. Look for our green banner at 197 Water Street. We hope to see you on the Trail!
