We have received a lot of messages about the wildfire in Annapolis County and how it is impacting travel to Digby.
The 3,210-hectare fire is about 100 kms (62 miles) away from the Town of Digby. Local crews have been able to prevent it from growing since Monday, and help from across Canada is on its way today.
There is currently no danger to the Digby area or impact on travel. Like many areas across North America, there are days where wildfire smoke is present in the air. It usually only lasts about half a day, and for most people, it is tolerable. So far, there have only been a few times this has occurred.
In all of Nova Scotia, there are restrictions to help prevent more forest fires. Details can be found here: https://novascotia.com/wildfire-prevention-measures/
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Our thoughts and thank you go out to all of the crews and volunteers who have worked endlessly to fight this fire.
