Blue Whale Visits The Digby Area!

On Wednesday June 26th 2024, whale watching cruises off Brier Island were treated to a visit from the largest mammal on earth! A Blue Whale.

According to Brier Island Whale and Seabird Cruises, the last time a Blue Whale visited was June 22, 2006! Prior to that, there were sightings in 1994, 1995, and 2002.

There are about 10-25 thousand Blue Whales world wide, but fewer than 250 in Canada. It is also not like them to come this close to shore.

Will this be the last sighting of a Blue Whale this season? I guess we’ll have to see.

But there’s only one way to make sure you do see them if they come again.
