As you may have heard, yesterday was not a good day for the out of control wildfire in our neighbouring county of Annapolis.
Weather conditions caused the fire to significantly grow and caused a lot of wildfire smoke to travel across the province.
Although the fire is over an hour away from Digby, the increased smoke from the fire could be seen in the distance from us.
At this time, there is no danger posed to the Digby area, and travel to and from the region has not been impacted.
Highway 10 that connects the South Shore to the Annapolis Valley has been closed in some sections, but all major routes are still easily accessible to and from Digby.
Wildfire smoke continues to sometimes be an issue, something that is impacting most of Nova Scotia. This is something that changes daily.
Here you will find two websites you can use to check daily conditions due to the wildfire.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any other questions or concerns you may have.
Thank you to all the volunteers and fire crews who continue to put in long days to help contain the fire.
