Today, July 30th, 2025, marks 55 years since Nova Scotia’s beloved folk artist, Maud Lewis, passed away. Her life and vibrant paintings continue to captivate hearts around the world, and her spirit remains deeply connected to the place she called home.

Maud Lewis is laid to rest in the North Range Cemetery – a place of quiet remembrance for a woman who brought so much colour to the world. Many still visit to pay their respects, and there’s even a bench installed so you can spend a quiet moment with Maud.
